Maid in the Shade

The shade looks so inviting

on a sultry summer day

It tempts us to enjoy it

in an unconventional way

We’ll take a cot into the woods

down where it’s cool and green

Perhaps we’ll drink a glass of wine

and listen to the stream

That isn’t really why we’re here,

our eyes will meet, and then

we’ll kiss and hold each other close,

and love will fill the glen

The woods will ring with laughter

We will have a joyous time,

and wile away the hours

In the shade,

Man and maid,

Love in mind.
