Geodic Reflections

I grew up different

in ways all could see

I learned early on

that they didn’t see me

They just saw the outside

and characterized

With no real conception

of the whole boy inside

I built my defenses

for those with no clue

Reserving my true self

for those who saw through

The people who saw me

inside of my shell

Accepting my difference

and keeping me well

The parts that I thought

that the others should see

disappear with these loved ones

No invisible me.
